Tour of Ballard Locks Locks Cruise Seattle

seattle harbor cruise

We could choose to take a car-share, public transportation, rental bike/scooter or walk back to our parked car. The accessibility of the cruise sometimes depends in part on which vessel is operating on a given day, as different ships have different levels of accessibility. Argosy has put together a comprehensive resource explaining the accessibility and limitations of their vessels and facilities, and are happy to assist with any questions. Fun and adventure starts with us and we’ve been doing it for over 75 years. Hop on to see and know Seattle like a local with stunning views, neat history, and, of course, a full service bar. Boarding begins about 20 minutes prior to departure and onboard seating is first-come, first-served.

However, the Seattle Harbor is dazzling any time of year and a bit of mist and fog can add some mystery and adventure to the experience, not to mention make you feel like a true Seattleite. With that said, it does get quite cold out on the water, so be sure to bundle up before you board during the winter months. Please note that cruise ships also use the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91, which is a minute drive from Pier 66 depending on traffic.

Everything You Need to Know to Visit Chihuly Garden and Glass

The 7 Best Key West Snorkeling Tours [2024 Reviews]

The weather was really nice and we like to walk so we walked up through Pike Place Market, through downtown and South Lake Union and back to our car. We arrived at the meeting spot for the Argosy Cruises Harbor tour about 30 minutes before our tour departed and then our boat ride was about 2 hours long. Because this tour is a one way tour, ours started at South Lake Union and ended at the Seattle Waterfront.

You can find the current schedule on the Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour website. It’s a little bit of a drive but take a tour of Olympic National Park is definitely worth the trip. If you are looking for unique attractions, you’ll want to see the 18-foot high troll under a Fremont area bridge and even take a tour of Seattle’s underground. The Hotel Deca is conveniently located near the University of Washington campus which makes it the perfect place for families in town visiting students or even students touring the campus.

They’ll let you help hoist and lower the sails, which only adds to it. If you’re looking for a wonderful way to spend your evening, look no further! The 2-Hour Seattle Sailing Harbor Tour is a great way to see some of the city’s top highlights that you wouldn’t be able to see from land. With various pickup times in the morning and afternoon, it’s also super simple to fit it into your schedule. Due to its location right on the sound, you’re able to see gorgeous views of the Olympic Mountains, the water, and much more. However, for the best views, we highly recommend going on an actual tour. You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund. The Harbor Cruise has snacks and sandwiches available to buy on board, as well as a fully serviced bar with local beer, wine, specialty cocktails and soft drinks available for purchase.

View colorful masterpieces by glassblower Dale Chihuly at the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum. Explore the Pacific Science Center or the Museum of Pop Culture. Then take in sweeping city views from the top of the 605-foot-tall Space Needle.

Geoduck clams, Penn Cove mussels and Dungeness crab are some of the most sought-after local specialties. At Pike Place, pick up curried beef bao, a Chinese-style dumpling best eaten by hand. For a snack or breakfast, head to Coyle's Bakeshop and pick up a cretzel, a pretzel-croissant combo that's all the rage among locals. The Seattle Underground tour takes you under the city to the Gold Rush-era streets of Seattle, before the city was rebuilt on top of itself.

All crewmembers are trained to assist visitors of limited mobility, and all ships are wheelchair friendly. Argosy Harbor Cruises will have a trained crewmember accompany every guest on board in a wheelchair. 2023 service is expected to return this summer, providing trips between Des Moines and downtown Seattle with five round trips per day (Tuesday-Sunday). Boarding will take place at Pier 50 Seattle Ferry Terminal and at Des Moines Marina. The vessel is available for groups, corporates, parties, classes, and more.

Once you know when and for how long you will be in Seattle, find those day tours and book them. Check out the Seattle Waterfront in its entirety, and the city skyline with the iconic Space Needle sticking out on the side of Belltown. With an incredibly knowledgeable and professional crew, you’ll be sure to want to book this one again! Meet at Bell Harbor Marina Office on Pier 66, which is centrally located downtown, on the waterfront. Breathe in the fresh air and smell of the sea as your guide tells you all about the history of the harbor and Seattle, in general.

However, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll see Mount Rainier unless it’s a particularly clear day. The crew is such a great asset to have, and makes sure everyone has a fun time. If it gets chilly, the crew will provide you with blankets, though we do recommend bringing along a jacket as well. As you leave the harbor, you’ll get some great views of the iconic Seattle skyline with the Space Needle. The Seattle Center was home of the 1962 World's Fair, which portrayed a mid-century view of the Land of Tomorrow.
